Iron Age artists

This week in Year 3 we have been getting ready for christmas, our classrooms continue to grow with decoration and we are all getting in the festive mood.

In English we finished writing our stories based on ‘The Pied Piper’. Instead of rats the children had the opportunity to change the animal and we had a wide range of different animals. In maths we have been exploring the perimeter of shapes and how to measure both regular and irregular shapes. The children have had fun exploring the classroom and measure the perimeters of things.

We have been incorporating art into our history lessons. We have been making round houses out of clay and exploring how to make them structurally sound. We also had a lot of fun making furniture that Iron age people would have had in the round houses.  Alongside this we have been making Iron age jewellery.

We have a very busy week next week. On Monday we have our Year 3 recorder concert, we are very looking forward to seeing as many people there as possible. Then on Tuesday we have the whole school panto, which the children (and adults) are very excited about!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to the last week of autumn term!
