Who knew biscuits and cream cheese would be so popular

This week In Year 3 we have been busy learning lots of new things!

In maths we were focusing on doubling and halving, looking at what happens to the numbers when we do this. We looked at patterns to help us, such as the 2, 4 and 8 times tables and how they are all connected to each other. Along with the 5 and 10 tables.  We discovered that if the ones digit goes over five we have to exchange a ten for a one.

In English we wrote a recount of the book ‘War and Peas’. We focused on the use of inverted commas and how to use speech in a story correctly, We are also beginning to look at paragraphs and how to understand when to start a new one.

In science we continued our investigations into light and shadow. This week we delved into more depth about transparent, translucent and opaque objects. We then experimented with which type of material would be best to use if we had to make sunglasses. In geography we used biscuits and cream cheese to model what happens when tectonic plates move. In DT we have been looking at pizzas and and the origins of them and next week we are going to begin drafting what we want our own pizza to be like.

The homework is on google classroom but if you would like a paper copy there will be some outside the classrooms as normal. The spellings are in the children’s spelling books and are posted on google classroom, We still have a couple more extra tag rugby PE lesson to come so please make sure the children have their PE kits with them on a Monday, thank you.

Have a lovely weekend.
