Escape from Pompeii

This week we have been continuing to look at fractions in maths. We begun the week looking at comparing and ordering them. We realised that even though the denominator is a big number it means that the actual size of the fraction is smaller. We then moved onto looking at equivalent fractions. We used a fractions wall to see what fractions were the same size as others.

In English we started looking at a new book called ‘Escape from Pompeii’. We discussed what we think it might be about and the children loved investigating the front cover of the book. We have also been focusing on using verbs, adverbs and prepositions in our sentences to paint a picture in the reader’s mind.

In science this half term we are learning all about forces. We began by looking at the two main forces push and pull. We experimented by going around our classrooms seeing what we could push and pull and what happened when we did them. In RE we are started to look at what happens over the Easter period the the lens of Christianity.

We have posted homework on Google Classroom that is all about equivalent fractions. Spelling have been stuck in the children’s spelling books and are also on Google Classroom.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

From the Year 3 team.
