This week we have been focusing of what is the same and what if different about St Albans and Lyme Regis. Did you know that Lyme Regis doesn’t have a train station ? We created some impressive venn diagrams.
Later in the week we thought about how St Albans has changed from ‘then to now’. The Cathedral, Clock Tower and Roman remains have been part of St Albans for a very long time and now there are also lots of shops and new houses. We looked at old photos and noticed that horses, carts and carriages were the way people moved around, but now we use cars.
In Maths we revisited subtracting two 2-digit numbers with regrouping. We used dienes to help us see the exchanging. Lots of practice has made us very competent with this strategy.
In English we have been busy making maps to help the dragons find their way home and we found out what their land is like and everyone enjoyed describing it.
Congratulations Scarlet class on a brilliant assembly! We are so proud of how confident the children were.
Homework this week: Don’t forget our TTRS battle between Crimson and Scarlet class. Also please learn your spellings as some of them will help with your writing next week.
Have a great weekend,
The Year 2 team
