We have had a very busy week, conducting experiments and planning art projects.
In maths, we have spent a week looking at what happens when we multiply by 10. As well as using basic multiplication to help us with more difficult ones. If we know that 3 x 5 = 15, we can work out what 3 x 50 is.
In English, we have been focusing on inverted commas and where to place them correctly. We have then been challenging ourselves to use other words than said to make our writing better. We have also been planning to write a newspaper article next week.
In science, we have conducted an experiment about friction. We were trying to figure out which material has the greatest friction. We had lots of fun testing different surfaces: grass, cardboard, jumpers, blankets, rugs… The majority of the class concluded that the grass has the greatest amount of friction. In geography, we looked at the advantages and disadvantages of living near a volcano.
Spellings have been stuck on the children’s spelling books, and they are also on Google Classroom. The year 3 classes are currently in the middle of a TTRS battle, let’s see who wins!
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
The year 3 team.
