Science, Symmetry and Subordinate Clauses

It feels like it’s been a nice calm week in Year 6.  The mood is positive, ahead of the SATs next week and we are really proud of how the children are approaching the tests. 

In Science, which closely links to our English topic, the children enjoyed researching an endangered animal and creating a series of clues to take part in a game of ‘Who Am I?’.  We are learning lots about such a wide range of animals, unfortunately all of which face an uncertain future. 

In maths, we have continued working through our revision booklets. This has given us the opportunity to talk through the problems with individual children, where required.  Plenty of arithmetic practice will hopefully mean that the children feel fully prepared for the papers next week. 

Magenta enjoyed their science visits to St Albans School, carrying out an investigation into fire and burning times.  I think the bunsen burner was the star of the show!

Wednesday 13th May 2026 Mathematics Arithmetics (Paper 1) – 30 minutes

Mathematics Reasoning (Paper 2) – 40 minutes

Thursday 14th May 2026 Mathematics Reasoning (Paper 3) – 40 minutes
