What a walk!

Even though this week was a shorter week, Y3 have managed to fit in a lot!

SCHOOL TRIP

On Tuesday we went on a school trip to Verulamium park and museum. We explored the Roman remains that can be found in the park and imagined we were Romans. We looked at part of a gateway that people would have used to enter the city and an intact Roman wall. Then we made our way to the museum where we explored Roman artifacts in a ‘market place’ and had the opportunity to investigate what the museum has to show us. We had a really lovely day out, even if the the children (and adults) struggle with the walk back to school.

In maths this week we have been solving worded problems where one of the parts is ‘unknown’. The children struggled to understand the concept to start with but  when we practised and used manipulatives to help us,  they began to grasp the concept more. We will continue to look at this over time.

In English we have finished writing instructions on how to become a trainee dream giver. The chn have been focusing on including adjectives, adverbs and fronted adverbials in their writing. They have enjoyed this topic as it can be individual to them.

In science this week we have put all of our knowledge, about forces and magnets, to create a poster. We included push and pull forces, contact forces, friction, gravity, magnetic force, attract and repel, and north and south poles. It was lovely to see all of their hard work come together.

The spellings and homework are on google classroom and we will have paper copies outside the classrooms if you would like to take one.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

From the Year 3 team.
