Sporty Fun!

Well done to all the children for a great Sports Day, especially in the heat today! We were so proud of how everyone took part and cheered each other on. Summer may finally have arrived. We hope they all enjoyed participating or cheering along their classmates.

It was a great end to a sports themed week. We have enjoyed two special visitor this week. Firstly, Jodie Williams, who is an olympic athlete came to talk to us about her career and her inspiring story of how she achieved her first olympic medal in Paris. It was amazing to be able to hold her actual bronze medal, which was really heavy! We also encouraged each other to take part in a series of activities to get our hearts pumping!

On Thursday it was great to hear from Lou Meadows and her work with the England Red Roses Rugby team and their inspiring story in achieving World Champion status at the Rugby World Cup. We hope all the children have been inspired by these athletes!

Year 4 have also been working hard on crazy character descriptions, using expanded noun phrases and strong vocabulary to write  vivid descriptions.

We have also been practising the column method for multiplication in maths. We used 3 digit numbers and learnt how to carry numbers to the next column if necessary.

In art, we have finished our very impressive tessellations and even managed to make some look like animals. We have worked on presenting and colouring these neatly. We have also made Viking brooches by scoring into aluminium sheets.

We hope you have a really lovely half term.
