This week we moved onto how the animals have adapted to live on the African Savannah. The children have impressed us with how much they can tell us. The giraffe has a long blue tongue that can pick the leaves of the acacia tree in between its thorns. Have you ever heard of a dazzle of zebras? When zebras are part of the herd it is hard for predators to distinguish individuals – their stripes dazzle them! Did you know that an ostrich can run up to 43 kph? This produced some lovely work in discovery time.
In Maths we have been working hard on the properties of 3D shapes. How many faces, edges and vertices does a cylinder have? The children made 3D shapes in the construction area and small world.
We had a lovely afternoon on Friday in our new class groups. We had the opportunity to talk and work with one another. It was fun!
Have a lovely weekend. Enjoy the sunshine.
