Arguments (balanced!) Arithmetic & Arteries

We finished writing our balanced arguments about pig heart transplants this week and all came to the conclusion that it is an incredibly controversial topic, recognising that there are both advantages and disadvantages to consider.

In maths, we have looked at multiplication and division of 10, 100, 1000, using the pyramid model and finished the week by completing an arithmetic quiz so that we can start to focus on the areas that we need to develop.

In Science, we have carried out an in depth look at the blood vessels  and their functions as vital elements of the circulatory system.  We will continue in this vein (pun intended) when we look at the composition of blood in the coming weeks.

The Mayan number system was the focus of this week’s topic work – a system that works on base 20 and uses a mixture of symbols to represent different amounts. The children really enjoyed the challenge and some even asked if maths could be in Mayan numerals next week!

Next week, on Monday, we will have a workshop as part of Digital Innovation Week.
