Learning Outside the Classroom Day

Today we have been enjoying learning outside the classroom. We walked round to the churchyard where we saw an abundance of different varieties of leaves, seeds, flowers and species of trees. We collected all sorts of natural items and brought them back to the classroom where we sorted them, tried to identify them and pressed them into salt dough to look at the textures. We then used a printing pad to print the images onto paper. We have created some very impressive and beautiful prints. Some of us then had a go at tracing a leaf using parchment paper and transferring that on to paper, taking care to outline all the shapes from the leaf.

It was fun at the churchyard when we tried to figure out the height of a tree whilst looking at it upside down between our legs and counting the number of metres we were away from it, which would give us the approximate height!

Have a lovely weekend,
